PGDFF Caribbean Gives Back to HIV Food Bank in Barbados !

We were honored to donate food items to the HIV AIDS Food Bank in Barbados, helping to support those in need across our community.

Special thanks to Mrs. Beverley Culpepper-Alleyne for her kind words of appreciation and to our amazing partner Farmers Choice Products (HIPAC) for joining us in this meaningful initiative.

Together, we’re making a difference — one act of kindness at a time.
PGDFF Caribbean Inc. has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive education through a meaningful partnership with RBC Royal Bank (Barbados). Together, the two organisations have provided essential equipment—including six 55-inch televisions, a refrigerator, and a freezer—to support the De Farm vocational programme at the Derrick Smith School and Vocational Centre and give the classrooms additional tools for teaching.

The De Farm programme plays a vital role in preparing students with special needs for independent living and employment. It produces both crops and life stock production and enables them to contribute at home if not employed. The fridge and freezer will be used to store the produce and boilers until they are ready to be sold. Agricultural teacher Antonia was grateful to get these additions.

Managing Director, Anita Sundaram and Global Pediatric Health and Relief Advisor, Dr. Kandamaran Krishnamurthy from PGDFF Caribbean Inc who attended the presentation noted that the initiative reflects the Foundation’s continued focus on empowering young people through access, opportunity, and education and were extremely grateful for RBC’s partnership to make this possible. Our youth are our greatest assets.

Shimon McIntosh, Managing Director, RBC Royal Bank Barbados said,
“RBC Royal Bank is proud to support the ‘De Farm’ program and provide large televisions for classrooms projects at the Derrick Smith Vocational School. In living our purpose to help clients thrive and communities prosper, this donation is more than a gift of money -it's a vote of confidence in the potential and dedication of our students.

“By investing in practical education, digital skills and sustainable agriculture, we're helping to equip students with the tools they need to thrive in today's world - and to build a stronger, more resilient future for their communities. We look forward to seeing the fruits of their labour, both in the classroom and at the Farmers Market.”

Principal Victoria Mayers.
“As the saying goes, it’s takes a village, and DSSVC is blessed to have PGDFF, and now RBC, as part of its village too! Our new large screens will do wonders in complimenting the great learning and teaching that takes places in our Secondary School learning spaces!

“De Farm” goes from strength to strength with its new refrigeration items! They will certainly help our efforts to ensure that not only do our students develop agricultural skills, but entrepreneurial ones too! Thank you very much PGDFF for making them happen & RBC for gifting us these items “

This partnership exemplifies how collective action can strengthen educational outcomes and ensure that every child—regardless of ability—is given the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

The event designed by the Caribbean Development Bank was on developing transformative education policy and strategy to unlock the potential of the Caribbean's predominantly young population.

Youth are our greatest assets.

CDB President Daniel Best said, "Education is the most powerful driver of inclusive growth known to humanity, and the Caribbean must harness this force to transform our economic trajectory.:

Fundamental is not money but knowledge that gives prosperity.Heart of this is education which is the most powerful driver known to humanity. The power of learning. Education is a journey long before a school bell rings. It starts at home.

The 24th Free Little Library Installed!

We’re thrilled to announce that the 24th Free Little Library has been installed at Alma Parris Academy in Speightstown!

This wonderful collaboration between PGDFF Caribbean Inc. and the Massy Foundation Inc. continues our mission to make books and reading tools accessible to all children — helping to build strong reading habits and improve literacy across Barbados.

This installation was extra special — along with books, we provided phonics toolkits to support early literacy learning.

Principal Harriet Williams shared her excitement, noting that the literacy and numeracy department had requested resources not easily found in Barbados. “I was blown away,” she said, “when PGDFF promised to make it happen.”

Massy Foundation’s Project Administrator, Gillian Corbin, reaffirmed their commitment to expanding access to books, literacy, and education across the island.

PGDFF'S Managing Director expressed heartfelt thanks to Massy Foundation for their support in ensuring no child is left behind, echoing the Ministry of Education’s motto:

PGDFF Caribbean & Kooyman DIY Woodworking brought smiles to children in the National Summer Camp.Led by Mr. Braithwaite, the kids were taught how to build photo frames ,boxes, and tire planters. This gave children a hands-on introduction to DIY woodworking – and the results were inspiring!

From measuring and sawing to sanding and assembling, the kids learned not just how to work with wood, but also valuable life skills: patience, problem-solving, teamwork, and confidence in creating something with their own hands.

By mastering the basics of woodworking, children discover that they can turn simple materials into something useful and beautiful.

Thank you to Kooyman for making this learning experience possible and for believing in the power of hands-on education. Together, we’re giving children tools for today – and skills for life.
